Important Information to Learners before Starting Studies
All learners should review the information contained in the following documents before starting their studies:
Qualification
The CPC comprises seven separate units which must all be completed to achieve the qualification. Details can be found here - Certificate in Pensions Calculations
How the Units are Assessed
Units are assessed by way of examinations designed to demonstrate learners’ competence in the manual calculation and communication of benefits of occupational pension schemes. Assessment is by ‘open book’ case study examinations, which are offered several times throughout the year.
Examinations
Please refer to the CPC learning webpage here https://www.cpc-learning-materials.com/
Our Accredited Training Partners offer the training for this qualification. Full details can be found on our dedicated page here.
Assessment method
Each of the CPC examination units (of which there are 7 in total) consists of 2 case studies (Section A – Calculations) and a single draft letter for analysis, which is always associated with one of the case studies (Section B – Draft Letter).
The examination units are designed to test the competence of learners in the calculation and communication of pension benefits.
They are based on 3 fictitious pension schemes:
Scheme | Type | Contracted-out?
|
OPQ | Money Purchase | No |
RST | Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) | No |
XYZ | Final Salary | Category A: Yes (up to 5/4/2016) Category B: No |
